Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid and Asake have officially released their much-anticipated joint extended play, Real Vol. 1, sending fans across Nigeria and beyond into a frenzy.

The four-track EP, which arrived on streaming platforms on Friday, features “Turbulence,” “Jogodo,” “Iskolodo,” and “Alaye.” The project marks the first full collaborative body of work between the two superstars and cements their growing influence on the global Afrobeats movement.

The duo announced the release via Instagram, sharing a short promotional video with the caption “Real EP Vol. 1 ti jade bayi,” a Yoruba phrase meaning “Real EP Vol. 1 is out now.” The post quickly gained traction, with thousands of comments from fans and fellow artists celebrating the collaboration.

Real Vol. 1 follows the explosive success of the lead single “Jogodo,” which was released on January 16 and went on to rewrite streaming history in Nigeria.

On its first day alone, Jogodo recorded 1.388 million streams on Spotify Nigeria, making it the highest single-day streaming debut for any collaborative or duo release on the platform in the country.

The song debuted at No. 1 on Spotify Nigeria and later entered the global Spotify chart at No. 82, underscoring the international appeal of both artists and the growing global appetite for Afrobeats collaborations.

Wizkid and Asake are no strangers to successful collaborations. Prior to Real Vol. 1, the pair had worked together on fan-favourite tracks such as “MMS” and “Bad Girl,” songs that showcased their chemistry and complementary styles.

While Wizkid brings his signature smooth melodies and global pop sensibility, Asake adds his street-rooted energy and Fuji-influenced sound an approach that has resonated strongly with younger audiences.

Industry watchers say Real Vol. 1 feels like a natural progression rather than a forced collaboration, with both artists clearly comfortable sharing creative space.

Beyond their joint success, both musicians are enjoying standout individual runs this year.

Wizkid’s album Morayo recently emerged as the most-streamed album on Apple Music Nigeria, reaffirming his position as one of Africa’s most consistent hitmakers.

Asake, on the other hand, continues to dominate streaming charts, with his single “Why Love” ranking as the most-streamed song during the same period. His ability to maintain chart momentum has kept him at the centre of conversations around Afrobeats’ new generation.

A moment for Afrobeats

With Real Vol. 1, Wizkid and Asake are not just releasing music they are reinforcing Afrobeats’ commercial power and cultural reach. The EP is already generating strong early streaming numbers and is expected to perform well across African and international charts in the coming weeks.

For fans, the project delivers what many have been waiting for: a focused, high-energy collaboration between two of Nigeria’s most influential artists at the peak of their careers.
