THE COPYCAT SERIES – The Urgent Call of Nature

CHAPTER TWO

Squatting behind a large shrub feels like heaven compared to the torture of holding in the inevitable.

Tunde exhale in deep relief, eyes half-closed as the weight of the world finally eased.

“Ahhhh… nature’s restroom,” he sighs, almost emotional. “Pure bliss.”

A twig snap behind him.

He freeze.

Slowly—very slowly—he turn his neck.

A man stands directly behind him.

Not just anyone. It is the same man in white he saw earlier. Only now, he look different – Paler. Calmer. Too calm.T

he kind of calmness that suggest something is about to go wrong.

His eyes glow faintly, like he is burning from within. His expression wear the serene humor of someone watching a child walk into danger.

“JESUS!!” Tunde scream, leaping so high – athletes will be applauding.

The Stranger stands still – not flinching.

“You no see the sign?” he asks, voice low and oddly amused.

Tunde stagger backward, trying to zip up with shaky fingers.

“I— I thought it has expired!” he cried. “But bros, you just finish your own now-now!” Tunde mutters in his defence.

The man in white tilt his head to a side. “Me?” he responds, expression unreadable. “I haven’t left this land since 1964.”

The air blows to a pause.

The morning breeze goes quiet. Sinking the words of the stranger.

Tunde swallow loudly. “Sixty-what?”

“As for the sign,” the man continues casually, “it’s permanent. Like the curse.”

“The cur— cur what?!” Tunde’s voice crack. Unsure of what he’s hearing.

The Stranger only smirk – the kind that screams “THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET VERY, VERY BAD.”

…to be continued
