No fewer than 610 soldiers from various Nigerian Army formations across the country have commenced the 2025 Warrant Officers Promotional Training, currently underway at the Federal Road Safety Corps Academy in Udi, Enugu State.

The two-week exercise includes a series of rigorous activities such as medical evaluations, physical fitness drills, weapon handling, written examinations, computer-based tests for clerical staff, and oral interviews.

Declaring the training open on Sunday, Chief of Personnel Management at the Army Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Adewale Adekeye, cautioned participants against the use of hard drugs or performance-enhancing substances. He noted that many of the soldiers are above 50 years old and that such stimulants could harm their health and hinder performance.

Adekeye, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, commended the participants for their years of dedication, loyalty, and service to the nation.

“We congratulate you for reaching this milestone and appreciate your hard work and efficiency in the Nigerian Army,” he said. “The Warrant Officers Promotional Board will be objective and fair in its assessment. Your scores will depend strictly on your performance and discipline.”

He urged the soldiers to exhibit professionalism throughout the exercise and warned against cheating or misconduct, stressing that only the most qualified candidates would be promoted based on merit.

Maj.-Gen. Adekeye also praised the Chief of Army Staff for providing the necessary support and funding for the training.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, encouraged participants to stay disciplined and focused. He assured them that their welfare and security remain a top priority for the division.

He also commended the Warrant Officers Promotion Board for its impartiality and thanked the COAS for choosing the division to host the prestigious training program.

The soldiers participating in the exercise are Master Warrant Officers aspiring to be promoted to the rank of Nigerian Army Warrant Officer, one of the highest non-commissioned ranks in the Nigerian Army.
