The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Donatus Chukwuma Ilang, has directed the immediate expulsion of all unqualified proprietors from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) across the state.

Dr. Ilang issued the order during a meeting with NAPPS executives at his office in Abakaliki, emphasizing that the state government will no longer tolerate substandard schools or individuals who compromise educational quality.

He stated that proprietors managing schools below the approved standard would lose their recognition as NAPPS members and face penalties under Law 008. The commissioner stressed that the Ministry of Education is fully committed to enforcing all regulations aimed at restoring quality and accountability in the private education sector.

Dr. Ilang reminded stakeholders that the ministry had previously issued public notices on compliance and warned that defaulters would face immediate disciplinary action. He called on NAPPS members to uphold peace, discipline, and unity within the association while collaborating with the government to raise academic standards across Ebonyi.

The commissioner further advised private and faith-based school operators to strictly adhere to government policies and reject any form of extortion or malpractice. He cautioned that no unapproved or substandard institution would be allowed to function in the state.

“Once the ministry begins its monitoring and supervision exercise, any school or individual found violating regulations will face the full weight of the law,” Dr. Ilang warned, urging school owners to make necessary corrections before the government takes stricter measures.

Speaking on behalf of NAPPS, Barr. Agbom Samuel appreciated the commissioner’s intervention and pledged the association’s total support for government efforts to enhance the safety, credibility, and quality of private education in Ebonyi State.

Dr. Ilang also lauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his continued investment in the education sector, assuring residents that the state government remains dedicated to improving learning outcomes and strengthening the overall education system.
