Coventry City have reached an agreement with Brentford for the signing of Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka.
The deal has been agreed between all parties and is set to be completed as a loan move with an option to make it permanent in the summer.
Onyeka will leave Brentford temporarily in search of regular first-team football after finding opportunities limited in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old joined Brentford in 2021 and played a role in the club’s establishment in the top flight. His energy, ball recovery and tactical discipline made him a useful squad option.
Coventry identified Onyeka as a key addition as they look to strengthen their midfield for the second half of the season. The club believe his Premier League experience will add balance and intensity.
The loan structure allows Coventry to assess the midfielder over an extended period before deciding on a permanent transfer.
For Onyeka, the move offers a chance to reset and play consistently while remaining in English football.
The Super Eagles midfielder is expected to link up with his new teammates imminently, with an official announcement anticipated shortly.
