Nigerian singer Burna Boy has set a new African record after recording the biggest streaming year ever by an African artist on Spotify.

The Grammy Award-winning artiste amassed a total of 1.986 billion streams on the platform in 2025, placing him at the top of Africa’s streaming rankings.

The ‘Ye’ crooner emerged ahead of fellow African stars Wizkid, Tyla, Rema and Davido to claim the number one spot.

Spotify’s 2025 streaming data confirmed Burna Boy as the most streamed African artist during the year under review.

Wizkid, Tyla Maintain Strong Streaming Numbers

Wizkid finished second on the list with 1.81 billion streams, reinforcing his sustained global popularity.

South African singer Tyla ranked third with 1.67 billion streams, reflecting her growing international influence.

Rema, Davido Complete Top Five

Rema placed fourth with 1.63 billion streams, driven by consistent global chart performances.

Davido followed closely in fifth position after recording 1.58 billion streams across the year.

Asake, Ayra Starr Lead Rest of Top 10

Asake ranked sixth with 1.52 billion streams, while Ayra Starr followed with 1.47 billion streams.

CKay recorded 1.38 billion streams to place eighth, with Seyi Vibez and Mr Eazi completing the top 10 at 1.32 billion and 1.26 billion streams, respectively.

Burna Boy’s latest achievement further underlines his dominance on the global music scene and his growing influence beyond Africa.
