The tense encounter at the AFCON semifinals ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, with both sides cancelling each other out in regulation time and extra time. Morocco eventually sealed victory 4-2 on penalties, ending Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the final.
Davido Loses $50,000 Bet on Super Eagles
Ahead of kickoff, Davido had publicly declared his confidence in the Super Eagles by sharing a screenshot of a $50,000 bet placed on Nigeria to defeat Morocco. The post quickly gained traction across social media, drawing reactions from fans who shared his optimism.
However, the high-stakes wager did not pay off, as Nigeria failed to convert any of their chances in open play and fell short during the penalty shootout, handing the singer a costly loss.
Peller’s $3,000 Bet Also Falls Through
The disappointment extended to Nigerian content creator Peller, who revealed he lost $3,000 after betting on Nigeria to win the match within 90 minutes.
Reacting during a livestream shortly after the game, Peller expressed his frustration while acknowledging the team’s effort.
“Thank you Super Eagles for playing very well,” he said sarcastically. “I have lost my $3,000 bet. You guys were playing well the previous games before I decided to place a bet and watch your match.”
He added humorously,
“Maybe if I stop watching your games, you will start playing well again.”
Despite the elimination, Nigeria’s performance against a strong Moroccan side earned praise from fans and analysts, with the Super Eagles showing defensive discipline and resilience throughout the contest.
