Smoke Without Fire: Episode 6

Ikumapayi tried to run, but her feet felt heavy, as if they were rooted to the spot. Dr. Evans laughed, his eyes gleaming with malevolence. “You should not have come here,” he said. “Now you will never leave.”

As Ikumapayi watched in horror, Dr. Evans stepped through the portal, disappearing into the unknown. The pulsating lights grew brighter, and Ikumapayi felt herself being pulled toward the portal.

She tried to scream, but her voice was drowned out by the cacophony of sounds that filled the room. The last thing Ikumapayi saw was the portal, its edges seeming to reach out and engulf her.

And then, everything went black. The serenity of the laboratory back to stay. All the cobwebs tangling around the equipment remained as if no one was there. Cold wind howls.

The next morning, the Baale found Ikumapayi’s car parked outside the abandoned laboratory. But Ikumapayi was not seen. “I thought she went back to the headquarters” Baale retorted.

Ibironke jumped forward, “I told her about this place. I warned her about it. Didn’t know she is one not to heed.”The people of Odeodunbi whispered about the strange occurrences in the woods, and how Dr. Abolore had gotten warped in a horror beyond comprehension.

In the laboratory, the portal remained, a gateway to a realm of madness and terror. Waiting for its next victim.

THE END.
